Unangepaßte in der DDR... Ein DEFA Kultfilm von 1957.

Unter dem U- Bahnbogen auf der Schönhauser Allee treffen sich täglich die Sechzehn- und Siebzehnjährigen, denen der Platz im Elternhaus zu eng wird. Mutproben sind an der Tagesordnung, und für eine Westmark wirft man schon mal eine Laterne ein. Der Bauarbeiter Dieter sucht auf der Straße die Freiheit, Kohle flüchtet vor seinem ständig betrunkenen Stiefvater, Karl- Heinz ist schon auf der kriminellen Bahn, und Angela muß zu Hause Platz machen, wenn die Mutter den Freund empfängt. Karl- Heinz versucht Kohle in seine dunklen Geschäfte zu ziehen, und nach einem vermeintlichen Totschlag flüchten die beiden nach Westberlin, wo Kohle im Auffanglager tragisch ums Leben kommt. Dieter entflieht der zweifelhaften Fürsorge des Lagers und kehrt nach Hause zurück. Er will für seine Schuld einstehen, um danach ein neues Leben beginnen zu können – und er will zu Angela, die ein Kind von ihm erwartet...

How young heroes deal with conflict - what gets them astray or leads them to the goal...

Nonconformists in the GDR... A DEFA cult film from 1957.

The sixteen and seventeen-year-olds who find the space in their parents' house too small meet every day under the subway arch on Schönhauser Allee. Dares are the order of the day, and for a Westmark you throw in a lantern. The construction worker Dieter is looking for freedom on the street, Kohle flees from his constantly drunk stepfather, Karl-Heinz is already on the criminal track, and Angela has to make room at home when her mother welcomes her boyfriend. Karl-Heinz tries to draw coal into his shady business, and after an alleged murder, the two flee to West Berlin, where Kohle tragically dies in the reception center. Dieter escapes the dubious care of the camp and returns home. He wants to stand up for his guilt so that he can start a new life afterwards - and he wants to see Angela, who is expecting a child from him...
